Students Travel to the Ivory Coast
September 2025
This August, a select group of KB Foundation students had the opportunity to travel to the Republic of Côte d’lvoire (the Ivory Coast) in West Africa. The KB Foundation's mission is to build the developmental and social competencies of adolescent youth in the Philadelphia area through educational, recreational, and hands-on learning experiences. Programming, led by committed mentors, provides activities that promote team building, healthy mind/body decisionmaking, community connectedness, conflict resolution, educational obtainment, and career exploration. KB Foundation is one of Reliance Matrix Foundation’s more recent grantees.
The KB Foundation offers the LEAP Program (Learning Education Abroad Program) — a transformative international experience. Select rising ninth-grade students have the opportunity to travel to the Ivory Coast, where they are paired with peers of a similar age. Through this program, KB students not only travel abroad but also immerse themselves in the culture, lifestyle, and daily experiences of similar age students from another continent.
The KB Foundation students along with Kirk Berry, KB Foundation Founder and CEO, were recently featured on Good Day Philadelphia where they shared their experience. Watch a clip of the news segment here.
