Team Members Lead Workshop for STEM Scholars
October 2025
Margie Simon, Director of Medical & Group Underwriting, and Ed Miller, Director of Reliance Standard Retirement Services, from the Philadelphia office recently led an engaging workshop for The Franklin Institute STEM Scholars, covering topics such as employee benefits, insurance, and retirement savings.
The Reliance Matrix Foundation proudly supports STEM Scholars programming which includes handson workshops, academic enrichment, exposure to a variety of STEM and STEAM industries, professional development, entrepreneurial experiences, ACT test preparation and college essay tutoring, and college and career readiness.
Workshops are facilitated by professionals in area STEM industries and community partners, such as Drexel University’s College of Engineering, Philly Solar Energy Association, University of Pennsylvania, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, iSTEM, and many more.
STEM Scholars commit to four years of intensive STEM enrichment driven by their deep passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Programming occurs weekly after school and for four full weeks during the summer.
The foundation is grateful to Margie and Ed for sharing their experience, expertise, and volunteering their time. We extend a special thank-you to the STEM Scholars for their insightful and thought-provoking questions.
